Sayeed Sanchez
Sayeed is a dreamer, scholar, advocate, and community architect envisioning a world free from all forms of violence. They are motivated by community, including their ancestors who forge(d) paths of resistance that remain all too necessary today. They approach justice-oriented work with a lens that seeks to prioritize and uplift the needs of the most vulnerable.
They currently serve as the Associate Director of Policy and Advocacy at Mujeres Latinas en Accion, and organize Mujeres’ advocacy and policy initiatives concerning the needs of immigrant, Latina/e survivors of gender-based violence. Sayeed’s professional accomplishments at Mujeres include leading the writing and completion of ¡Actívate! as well as accomplishing the 40-hour training for the Culturally Specific Advocates for Survivors of Sexual Assault.
Much of his work and approach to life has been informed by his grandma and great-grandmother, who were feminist trailblazers in the face of gendered-based violence and economic violence in the South. He finds joy in cooking and music as methodologies for engaging the Black diaspora
