Meditation: Create The Space
00:01 Hi, my name is Denisse, and I just wanna acknowledge that if you found yourself here in this space, welcome. This space is all about you taking time to connect to your body, to your heart, and to your mind. So often when we hear the word meditation, we get intimidated due to the fact that we think that we have to sit for long periods of time with nothing coming up to the mind. What about if I tell you right now that none of that is true? Meditation really works when you're able to organize your thoughts. And in order to organize your thoughts, your ideas, your memories, you need time. Time to listen to what is arising in the forefront of your mind.
Now, slowly, I want you to first create the space in your life to acknowledge that some part of you wants to enter a sacred space of meditation, and that the sacred space of meditation, whether it's five minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, is all about taking time to listen.
01:27 You can take the practice of meditation seated, laying down, or, if you don't have a space and you wanna take this in the subway, or in the car, know that that is the time that you have to give yourself. Whatever you do, the practice of meditation is all about grounding.
Begin to shift and close your eyes and let your hands land at the pit of the belly. Take a big inhale through the nose, take an exhale out the mouth, and start to just feel the natural rhythm of your breath. Without labeling it, without wanting it to be something different. Notice the patterns, if there's any. Feel the tempo of connection to your breath and your heartbeat.
Now, you're gonna open up just today's session by saying these words with me: I give myself time to listen, to tune in, to breathe deep into my body without judgment.
Now the next question arises: How am I feeling today?
Now, as you start to connect to your feelings, your emotions, this is where you start to form some organization. You notice what feelings are present, what thoughts, such as like the to-do list arises, and what ideas are also making their way into your mind.
04:08 Now, breathe into your body. Take a deep breath in a bigger exhale, and know that you just completed your first meditation.
